RIGHTS OF WOMEN
For International Women's Day 2020, Improper partnered with Rights of Women to launch a campaign to promote the national sexual harassment at work advice line.
Rights of Women is a UK charity which helps women through the law. They provide women with free, confidential legal advice by specialist women solicitors and barristers. The sexual harassment at work advice line is supported by TIME'S UP UK.
The purpose of the campaign was to help Rights of Women reach those women who are suffering in silence, empower them to call the helpline and access support and justice.
YOU HAVE RIGHTS
What makes somebody finally pick up the phone?
Because something has happened to her.
Because it is impacting her thoughts, her feelings and her life.
Because she has rights.
The #BECAUSE campaign appeals to the emotional and physical experience of sexual harassment. It centres survivors' conflicted and conflicting thoughts and feelings, and the universality of these experiences and emotional responses.
In identifying the concerns women may feel about what has happened to them, we also start to challenge some of the myths around sexual harassment: that it ‘wasn’t really that bad’ or ‘there’s nothing I can do about it’ or that ‘it wasn’t intentional so it can’t be harassment’. We want women to know that they are not alone in this experience and we want them to call the Rights of Women helpline.
The campaign launched in the build-up to IWD2020 and will support Rights of Women to keep raising awareness about this vital service and ensure that women who have experienced sexual harassment get justice.
It comprises a poster series and assets for social media that were made available as a downloadable resource for employers to utilise.
